Installation

Lunchpad runs on Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). Linux support is coming.

Download

Get the latest build from the releases page on GitHub. Pick the file for your system, install it like any other app, and start it.

Once installed, Lunchpad checks the same releases page when it starts and offers new versions inside the app. See Tray and updates.

Set up your system

Windows

1. Run the installer and start Lunchpad.

2. Plug in your Launchpad. Windows needs no driver for it.

3. Close other programs that might be using the Launchpad, such as Ableton Live or another controller app. On Windows, only one program can open a MIDI port at a time, so Lunchpad cannot see a Launchpad that another program is holding.

macOS

1. Open the downloaded file, move Lunchpad to your Applications folder and start it.

2. Plug in your Launchpad. macOS needs no driver for it.

3. Allow Lunchpad to press keys. Hotkey actions and push-to-talk need the Accessibility permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch Lunchpad on.

   If Lunchpad tries to press a key without the permission, it shows a notice Lunchpad cannot press keys with a Check again button. You can also go to Settings → Keyboard and click Check keyboard access, which opens the system prompt if the permission is missing.

Tip

Lunchpad does not need to stay in the foreground. Once your pages are set up you can close the window and keep it in the tray. Turn on Close to the tray in Settings → Interface so closing the window does not quit the app.

Where your data lives

Lunchpad keeps its settings, your pages and your shared variables in one folder:

Windows

• Settings and pages: %APPDATA%\com.lunchpad.app
• Logs: %LOCALAPPDATA%\com.lunchpad.app\logs

macOS

• Settings and pages: ~/Library/Application Support/com.lunchpad.app
• Logs: ~/Library/Logs/com.lunchpad.app

Inside the settings folder:

File	What it holds
profile.json	Your pages, buttons, faders and actions.
profile.json.bak	The profile as it was before the last change. Settings → Pages & backup → Restore previous profile brings it back.
variables.json	Shared variables, so they survive a restart.

Sound files, images for buttons and programs you launch are not copied into this folder. Buttons point to them where they are on your disk, so keep them in a place that does not move.
